FoA Content Analysis
Friends of Animals is a non-profit organization that aims to free animals from cruelty and advocate for their rights. The organization's work includes various projects, sanctions, books, magazines, newsletters, legal work and more. According to the website, "The organization has grown from its beginnings as the most comprehensive low-cost spay neuter program in the country, facilitating more than 2.8 million spay/neuter procedures to date. It has evolved as well and now places critical habitat, wildlife protection and veganism at the core of animal advocacy."
As I looked through their website, I noticed a few issues that could be fixed. I decided to do a content analysis to see what could be improved with the SEO, accessibility, content, writing and architecture.
Key Takeaways
Overall, the main areas of improvement include adding more alt text, writing more creative titles, using more visuals and interactive content, improving color contrasts, adding more search results and refining the writing. My research showed there was a lack of alt text, meta descriptions and accessibility features such as good color contrasts.
Based on my own observations, the website could've used more interactive elements such as graphics, images and videos. However, the images that are featured on the website are high quality and there is a newsletter and shop along with various links for donations or learning more about the organization's programs.
